Typical Day

There's is nothing fancy about a sweatshirt and jeans...but sometimes it's just what you need to get out the door.  I've been having a little bit of trouble lately with personal style.  My birthday is approaching and I'm going to be (gulp) 32.  For some reason...32 is hitting me.  30 didn't feel like much, perhaps because I was pregnant and didn't really get to enjoy it, but 32 is getting to me.  I know there are things that I should be doing to "improve myself"...I don't mean plastic surgery or anything...just taking better care of my skin/hair/clothes/etc...yet it's hard to find the time.  I want to dress "my age" without compromising who I am.  So...I guess I'm in a bit of an identity crisis.  To add fuel to the fire...for some reason...these boots got the eye from a couple mom's when I went to drop Hunter off from school...and I just don't get that.  I like platforms, and heels, and I really don't like wearing running shoes unless I'm, well, running!  I feel like in the environment that I'm in (the mom world) the plainerI look, the more accepted I am.  And I'm just not a jeans and tee kind of gall.  See my crisis?  Any advice would totally be helpful!  So for today...I wore my sweatshirt, fishtailed my hair...but wore my new favorite boots.  So PLEH!

I like this picture...it makes my butt look small....be prepared for many more poses like this :)

  1. I can't believe those moms were eyeing you for those boots! It's probably just because you're so stylish and they wished they could wear them :)I think you should dress in what makes you feel fabulous and don't worry about what others are thinking.

    1. Thank you, girl! That's super sweet. I didn't get it either! It was the "who does she think she is" eye. WHAT? God forbid when spring gets here and I wear a skirt and heels...good gracious.

  2. It's better to resist the usual "mom" uniform & go with what you feel best in. I'm all about comfort, but I like things that are both comfy & make me look awesome. You're good at that, so I go to you for inspiration often, but add my own spin on it. The other moms are just jealous that they didn't think about what they were going to wear while making their kids breakfast. It really doesn't take any extra time, it's just the effort. Keep up the good work. Dress in what makes you feel good regardless of what people think or your age. ;)

  3. Um, those boots are fabulous. I have a couple of cute sweatshirts (far from a "hoodie) that I usually wear with sweet ballet flats. I don't wear my sneaks (unless it's chucks or vans) other than for working. Now, granted, some days I don't get out of my workout clothes until dinnertime, but my "jeans and tshirt" wardrobe is not too shabby. It's the mom uniform stepped up a bit. I do what I can. The other mamas must just be jealous that you can look adorable at drop off!

    1. Thanks Peanut! I guess it's jealous...it's nice to think that, I guess. I just hate to feel alienated because I...Look nice? It's just so weird!

  4. Okay, first off - I hope you just smiled at those plain-jane moms and flipped your hair as you walked by! I honestly see those types of people as just jealous. And more jealous in the sense that someone (you) put a little time/effort/thought into your appearance. And I'm sorry...running shoes should only be worn when working out (and this coming from a serious tomboy!)

    Okay, moving on!
32?!?! Girl, you're young!! Let's just say that I'm older than you and age is only how you feel. I try to feel young most days. On the days I don't, I pour another glass of wine and that usually helps.
