Ehhhhh....

Sometimes I put on clothes in my room and think "this looks so cute!"  Then I take pictures, or come home and take a second look and think "what in the hell was I thinking???"  This may have been one of those days.  Ok I don't look HORRID...but it's not my favorite.  I think its the skirt.  I'm not sure...it's just one of those outfits that you go "Eeeeeehhhh...."

PS:  my boobs look huge...they are not this huge.....

Birds of a Feather

I've seen this shirt circling the blogosphere a couple times around...but when I saw it for $4.99 (what? Hollllaaaaahhh) at Old Navy I couldn't resist picking it up for myself.  I wore this when the hubs took me to go see the Cirque du Soleil Michael Jackson Immortal show.  It was good....not STELLAR...but good.  I may be the most cold-hearted person on earth when I tell you all this...but overly emotional..things (people, circumstances, songs, movies) make me super uncomfortable.  I turn into a tween learning the word penis...I start squirming and giggling and cracking stupid jokes to break up the heaviness.  I don't know why.  It was the same with Titanic.  Didn't help that I went with my best GUY friend so we were super weirded out that it was a love story.   Awk-Ward..........So being that Michael was a very emotional person, and his fans are as well....I fully turned 13 again during the show.  But the music was great!  Woot!

Have a great weekend, y'all!

Holy Moly...

...Is it THURSDAY already???  Where have I been??  Well I'll tell you...I've been working hard at my Etsy shop, Lemon Squeezies, I've been planning and executing a 2 years old's bday party....this guy here..

{Yes I made his shirt...I love!!!}

...planning and soon to execute my sister in laws 40th bday party, and just generally trying to get my life back in order!  So I guess this week has kinda flown by without me doing much else!  But I did manage to throw together a half decent outfit on the first day I could wear shorts!  Yay!!!

Fun fact about these shorts...they were skin tight in January.  Craig even asked if they were new and I practically yelled "NO!!! THEY'RE OLD!!!  LIKE, PRE WEDDING OLD!!!!!!"  I got a little excited....

Oh...and I read some "scare the pants off of me" article about skin cancer and I've decided to embrace the whiteness....and to use self tanner.  Jergens is a miracle worker!  No more booths for me!

Movie Night

Can I tell you how excited I was when my neighbor (the one who hosted my birthday party) said "I have free movie tickets...wanna go see The Hunger Games?"  I almost threw up.  I just finished reading all 3 books, literally in 3 days (I couldn't stop) and have been bugging the husband to take me to see the movie NOW.  It's probably best he didn't go, though, because 1) he probably would have fallen asleep since we could only go at 9:00 at night, 2) he wan't into it as much as me because he didn't read the books, and 3) He would see me oogling a 19 year old Josh Hutcherson....I can't help it...I got attached to the character.  That's not too bad, right...a 12 year age difference...no...that's not too bad.....I act like I'm 18 anyway...so it all works out....

Side note: You know your house looks really bad when you and your husband can't find an area to take a picture without crap in the background.

Tribal Dress

I found this dress on clearance at Target...and I wasn't 100% sold on it...but figured for $7 I may as well take it home and try it on.  I LOVE it!  It was the perfect dress to wear on a near 80 degree day, and an outing to the aquarium, and I'm really loving the bold print!  I'm so happy to finally be getting more color and more exciting prints into my wardrobe (thanks in part to this lil ol' blog!) and excited to actually get to wear them with all this gorgeous whether about!

Time Alone

I actually got to spontaneously run to the mall for a little alone time.  We have a couple events coming up such as my Sister in Laws 40th birthday and a wedding, so I needed to go by myself to concentrate.  Craig wasn't fully mad about this outfit, but I like to go shopping in things that I can easily get on and off, and since I am on somewhat of a time clock, shoes I can run in!  There's a tank under here which makes for easy slipping on and off of cardigans, and this oversized sweater keeps its shape as I pull things on and off.  I get so peeved when I am trying on clothes and the stuff that I came in with gets all stretched and out of shape.   So, end result....I came home with nothing.  Because you never find what you're looking for when you're looking for it, but it was a nice break nonetheless!

Slack-a Lackin!!

Holy shnikies I have been slacking around here lately.  I guess after that long run...I've had 2 weeks of jello time.  Meaning I've literally been a blob around the house.  But no more!  I've made an April 6th resolution to get the bootie back in gear...which means more good posts coming up!  I did manage to pull myself together last weekend though, for an outing with my handsome hubs, some Dunkin Donuts, and a birthday party at my in-laws!  Can't wait to get crackin' again next week folks!  I've missed you all so much!

Photo Bombers

I officially have little photo bombers.  They here the click of the camera and come running in to pose.

This is Blue Steel.

This is my "hey lets go spend some money we don't have at Target" outfit!  Yay!  Just kidding....we did actually need stuff....like bananas.  And a waterproof running jacket because it's supposed to pour this Sunday.  Oh yeah....and that's when I'm running my marathon.  Really, Fate?  My first marathon...and you make it rain up in here.  Fantastic.

Surprise kisses made it better.  Not only is he a photo bomber...he's a ham in front of the camera.  He heard the beep beep and said "I kiss you."  I'm taken off guard...clearly.

The kids were being cute.  My "Awwwwwwww" face.  I don't remember what they were doing exactly.  Maybe the little one was feeding the big one.  I don't know how that started...but they love it.

The two dudes and mom.  Hunter (the big one) was yelling "Stop picturing and let's go to the store!  Go to Target!"  Alright, alright....I can't argue with excitement to go to Target!

Toned Down Neon

We had a small cold snap in the middle of all this 70 degree weather, which I found the perfect opportunity to get one last wear out of my fave sweater of winter, this neon "grellow" super bright knit.  I like how it's so bright and cheery for Spring, yet nice and cozy for Winter still!  It's the perfect contradiction!

I paired the acid green bundle of goodness with some, what I consider, more neutral pieces, which made it such an easy to wear, everyday piece.  The checked shirt peeking out and the brown boots are the perfect casual compliment to an otherwise loud piece.  And by doing this, I don't feel like the color totally overwhelms me.

Somebody got mad...I hollered at him for touching the tri-pod.

Now it's just funny...but he stayed there forever....

Seriously....forever.

A Little Classy...and Little Trashy

I got this leopard print cashmere sweater a couple months ago but this is the first chance I've gotten to wear it.  I'm a little intimidated by animal print...because I think it can go really classy, or like the title of this post, really trashy.  However...being that this was a demure cardigan, it was automatically a class act.  I tried to casual it up with my favorite pair of casual jeans...but I think they may have been toooooooo casual.  Perhaps holes and leopard print don't mix.  Wop wop wop.  However...I highly enjoy my hair...and it stayed all throughout my 15 mile run too!  Yay!!

PS: I don't recommend 15 milers at the gym.  I literally went cross eyed.

A lesson on Fit, Flattery, and Forbearance...

Happy Leap Day, y'all!  Anyone watch the leap day 30 Rock?  It was hilarious.  The gist was that leap day was an actual holiday, complete with a patron saint and official colors

Damn my embedded video isn't working.....anyway.....

So, because it's leap day, I wanted to dress in full holiday regalia...blue and yellow, blue and yellow.  Yeah-yah!  So here's where the lessons come in.  First...FIT.  This is the outfit I initially went with today, having full intention of wearing this today when I took the pictures

I thought I looked pretty good in the mirror...but then I took these pics.  First of all...don't I look terribly uncomfortable?  That's because I am.  And I wanted to wear my hair down...and because it's so long it's just not happening.  But that's under the lesson of flattery...let's get back to fit.  These pants were ones I bought when I was (unknowingly) 3 months pregnant with Jagger....my second little nugget of love.  So that means I had lost the baby weight with Hunter and was again 3 months pregnant.  They fit...just not well.  They are still just that LITTLE bit of tight that makes your back hurt a little.  Anyone else know what I'm talking about?  Anyone?  So the lesson here is no matter how much you WANT to where something...make sure the fit is correct or else your going to show it ALL OVER your face all day that you are completely uncomfortable.  And no matter how much makeup you put on, you can't cover up a constipated look because your pants are pinching just a little.

Anway,  I had to change...which brings me to flattery...and to this outfit (I just noticed my puppy Pepper photo bombed my picture)

Do I not look about 20 pounds thinner...no joke.  And not that I am like "oh look at me I'm so skinny!" because I'm pretty far from that point...but this picture is more true to form (or at least what I see in the mirror) than the before pic.  Let me break it down on why I think this outfit is WAY more flattering.  Right away would be the pants.  They fit.  I do not have to suck in to button them, or worry about anything twisting, turning, bunching or falling.   Then, the cardigan.  I think it perfectly skims my body to create a leaner line..and I'll be real, it's still way to cold to have my arms exposed. And lastly, the hair.  My face does not do well with extremely long, non-layered hair.  I say non-layered because I've had long hair before that had great layers and I loved it...but right now my hair is blllllaaaahhhhhh. So off my face is best right now.

I mean...look how much HAPPIER I look!  Because I feel good in what I'm wearing...not trying to feel good in pants I really really want to wear.

So my last lesson.  Forbearance (which is a synonym for patience...but I need another "F" word...ooooooo....."F" word......).

I really wanted to wear those striped pants.  SO badly that I picked an extremely poor outfit to wear.  So poor that my posture was bad, my hair was bad, and I just looked....bad.  My whole personality changed when I changed my clothes.  I am more confident, and happy, which in turn changes how I look completely. I often get hung up on the fact that I am not losing weight as rapidly as I did with my first child as I am with my second.  By Hunter's first birthday, I was already down to my pre-pregnancy weight, and 3 months later (when I found out I was pregnant with Jagger) I was still there!  With Jagger...we're approaching his SECOND birthday and the weight just isn't coming off as easy, despite the fact that I'm training for a marathon.  Don't even get me started on diet.

The point is patience.  Things don't ever happen the way that you think they will, and it's hard to come to a realization that  you can't compare your situations with anyone else...or with your own!  What happened with Hunter unfortunately didn't happen with Jagger, but I'm on my way.  I've lost 6 pounds and have about 10 more to go...and its taken about 3 months....but it's going.  Just not as fast as I'd like.  And in this fashion blogging world, it's terribly difficult not to compare yourself to others.  You wonder how the heck girls have fit back into their skinny jeans and you're still rockin' your "big jeans."  But, it's important to realize that you are not like those girls (um...rock on to you ladies that do that BTW....I'm jealous...but applaud you) and that you are just YOU.  And, if you dress for how you fit NOW and not how you want things to fit...you will look your best for sure!  I'm so glad I took pics of myself and saw what I was doing....I just FEEL happier!
